I think you're still missing my point here. Using standard equipment (no esoteric knock management, etc), standard expectations for a reliable engine (100k+ miles of life expectancy), "standard" tuning time (not hundreds of hours), and standard fuel, there just isn't a good enough safety margin with a stock NA short block. Especially one that has 168k miles and that is paired with an expensive top end for the time being. I'm well aware you can find cool ways to make a ~14:1 compression engine run for a while even with port injection. Again, not the point. I'm probably guilty of making too general a statement on the NA short block and boost. But does that mean that the exceptions are the rule? Doubt it. The build is really key (imo) for a guy who doesn't like living on the edge, especially when dealing with all of the variances in nature.
